Appalachian Trail

The AT passes through the highlands just north of the hostel. Access via Elk Garden, Massey Gap, or Highway 58.

Two Highest Peaks

Mt Rogers (5,729 ft) and Whitetop (5,518 ft) — Virginia's two tallest summits are both within range of the hostel.

Grayson Highlands

Home to Virginia's famous wild ponies. Enter at Massey Gap for some of the best views on the East Coast.

Damascus

"Trail Town USA" — a major AT resupply point and home of Trail Days. Shuttle service available from the hostel.
